Makowski lab is proud to announce that postdoctoral fellow Dr. Laura Sipe was awarded a 3 year 2020 AACR-Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation Fellowship for a project entitled “Novel pre-clinical model to identify genetic modifiers of TNBC.” Fantastic news Laura!

Laura Sipe was selected as a Susan G. Komen® Breast Cancer Challenge Winner Presented by The Obesity Society: Obesity and Cancer Section

Laura presented in the Obesity and Cancer Section/Susan G. Komen Challenge Symposium at the 2018 ObesityWeek meeting. As a winner she will present the results of her pilot studies at the 2019 ObesityWeek meeting in Las Vegas, NV, within a session devoted to results from the Susan G. Komen® Breast Cancer Challenge.

Dr. Vickie Bae-Jump and Dr. Makowski awarded an R01 to study endometrial cancer

In 2018, Dr. Bae-Jump (PI) and Dr. Makowski (co-I) were awarded an R01 to examine the systemic and local metabolic changes in patient ovarian tumors and a murine model of serous ovarian cancer and test the effects of a novel biguanide.

Drs. Bae-Jump and Makowski awarded V Foundation Award.
